Below is link to an article about the efforts of the Worthington Ohio Historical Society to place an Ohio Historical marker at the site of the Jeffers Mound on Plesenton Drive north of Columbus. It seems that some of the local residents have been putting up a fight against the placement of the marker for fear that it will draw too many tourists to the area. Plesenton Drive is the site of many expensive "upscale" homes in the north Columbus suburb and it seems some of them do not like the idea of attracting attention to the ancient Hopewell mound for fear of parking and trash woes (or maybe for fear that it would bring low-class history buffs to the area and lower their property values). Luckily for those who appreciate history, and unfortunately for the "upscale" residents, the marker was dedicated in September of 2003. www.thisweeknews.com/thisweek.php?edition=common&story=thisweeknews/092503/wor/News/092503-News-316577.html
