Here is a thread from another discussion forum (dedicated to the Black Hawk War) that I thought some of the readers of this board might find interesting. It is an article that appears in the January 2004 issue of FHM magazine (one of the many notorious "Men's" magazines in the vein of Maxim) that openly lambasts the hobby of historical reenacting. We all know that there are those who do reenacting and take it seriously and those who don't...and there are some of us who are eagerly interested in history who do not get involved with reenacting but are frequent spectators at these events (even the spectators are not spared the author's jibes in this article). Now while FHM is certainly not any kind of authority or respected periodical by any means, I find it interesting that they would take time and space to bash the whole idea of living history. I would be interested to hear anyone else's thoughts on the issue. blackhawkwar.proboards9.com/index.cgi?board=opentalk&action=display&n=1&thread=1073981721
