This account, taken from Martin's History of Franklin County, details the life and adventures of one of Ohio's earliest white settlers, and one of the founders of what would become the city of Columbus. John Brickell was captured by the Indians in 1791 and lived many years with the Delaware before leaving to rejoin white society. Like Jonathan Alder, whom he knew well, Brickell never completely abandoned Indian ways and though he was accepted by his new white neighbors, always seemed to harbor a sentimeltality for the vanishing Indians. www.genealogybug.net/franklin_1858/brickell.htm
