Frances Slocum's story, told when she was in old age living with the Miamis, tells a fascinating tale of her life as a Quaker captive and later married a Miami Chief. Even though she got to meet her old family through the help of the Trader Ewing, she wanted to remain with her Indian family. Her portrait by George Winters and her story appears on the following site. www.rootsweb.com/~scwhite/slocum/frances.html
