Caught the first episode of the new TNT mini-epic "Into the West" tonight. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of production that they have taken with this mini-series and hope that it spawns more like it. Check it out.. csmonitor.com/2005/0610/p15s01-altv.html

Zohoe, the mini Series is very well done. It nice to see the Native side for a change. I wish that someone would do a series like that on the Ohio area. Hal

Me too Hal. I would have loved to see Allan Eckert's Winning of America Series turned into a mini-series. In fact I remember some time ago it being mentioned that the rights to his book The Frontiersmen had been optioned for a TV movie, but that it never came off. Maybe some day. After seeing the second episode of Into the West I continue to be fairly impressed with the production values and decent script that doesn't play into the typical cliches of the genre and one that, as you mentioned, goes to great lengths to present the Indian point of view. With all the tripe on TV these days we don't get to see anything good like this very often which makes the series' shortcomings less bothersome. There is a good review of the series here: www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/reviews/review_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000953906
