Just wanted to give everyone interested in this forum a "Heads Up" on a major exhibit soon to open featuring the French & Indian War.
In May of 2005 the international exhibit "Clash of Empires" will premeir at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. It is currently being developed by the Heinz History Center and the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institution and the Canadian War Museum/Canadian Museum of Civilization.
The exhibit will continue at the Heinz History Center until April of 2006, at which time it will move to the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on the Mall in Washington, D.C. -- then on to Ottawa, Canada.
The exhibit will be housed in the brand new Smithsonian building wing of the Heinz History Center and will feature 300 objects and works of art from Europe, Canada and the United States.
A seperate program titled "Worlds in Motion: American Indians on the Colonial Frontier" will run in conjunction with the exhibit. This will be an online curriculum project funded by a $200,000 grant from the National Endowments for the Humanities and will target K-12 teachers in the seven states most affected by the French and Indian War.
All this might sound like a commercial, but I'm a docent at the History Center -- intently interested and involved in the F&I War -- and want others who are interested to think about perhaps visiting the exhibit while it's in Pittsburgh. I'll keep this forum informed. Nemacolin
